On Thursday, federal prosecutors charged the company’s co-founder Yih-Shyan “Wally” Liaw with participating in a scheme to illegally move servers containing Nvidia graphics processing units valued at approximately $2.5 billion into China. Liaw and Sun were taken into custody recently, while Chang is currently evading authorities, as stated by the Justice Department. Supermicro itself has not been charged, nor have fellow co-founders Charles Liang—the CEO and chairman—and his wife Sara Liu, who also co-founded the company and sits on the board.
